About us
Our love for hospitality did not begin here. It grew over the years, shaped by places where we built something from the ground up. One of those places was an old farmhouse from the early 18th century in the Corrèze region of southern France. The building was derelict, without water or electricity. What followed was an intense and rewarding period in which we restored it by hand and transformed it into our own campsite Camping La Magaudie.
After selling the campsite, we returned to the Netherlands, where we purchased a former café and converted it ourselves into a home with a B&B. Welcoming people, creating a warm atmosphere and making sure guests feel at ease from the moment they arrive — it is something that has guided us throughout our lives. It is part of who we are.
Remco is a true all-rounder. With a keen eye for detail and a high standard of craftsmanship, he makes sure that everything that needs
to be built, adapted or maintained is done properly and with care. Ellen finds joy in making others feel comfortable —
through a warm welcome, personal attention and the small details that make a stay special, often quite literally coming from the garden.
The decision to leave the Netherlands and start a new chapter in Northern Norway was not made lightly. It was a conscious choice
to create a life with more space, calm and a closer connection to the seasons. Together with Flóki and Ubbe, we live here
surrounded by nature, where light, weather and landscape set the rhythm of each day.
That experience is what we would like to share with you.
Whether you stay for a short visit in the B&B within our own home, or for a longer retreat in The Yellow House, the detached house next to it,
Nordic Horn is about timelessness, attention and a place where you are free to simply be.
